R002 Carbide Stub Drill
with TiN Tip Coating Featuring Advanced
Technology

The R002 is a Solid Carbide Jobber Drill, incorporating CTW Technology. It is capable of drilling to a depth of 5 times diameter in one pass, has a flute length and TiN tip coating, offering increased productivity and tool life

Product Design // Features and Benefits

  • TiN coating for 25% of flute length
  • Capable of producing holes up to 5 x diameter depth
  • The R002 offers higher productivity when compared to standard geometry drills
  • Integrated web-thinning, with no compromise on overall strength of the drill
  • Reduced cutting forces required to drive the tool through the work piece throughout the life of the tool
  • Consequently, reduced wear and tear on machine tools
  • Designed using the latest Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) Technologies, including Finite Element Analysis and an accurate, optimised 3D model, resulting in the best design solution
CTWTM Technology
The geometry has been developed to incorporate CTWTM (Continuously thinned web ) Technology. This means that when the user re-point grinds the drill, the resultant point is already thinned.

Traditionally, web thinning is performed as an additional operation after point grinding. A drill point is thinned by shortening the length of the chisel edge to reduce the thrust force needed when drilling. With CTW TM Technology the chisel edge length is minimised, which reduces the thrust force required when drilling, whilst still maintaining the sectional strength of the tool.

By integrating the web-thinning feature within the flute form, the design is effectively thinned throughout the life of the drill, without passing on the costs and complexities associated with this additional operation to the customer.
