Solid Carbide Cutters Featuring

A wide range of Dormer solid carbide cutters has been developed to meet customer's needs in a wide variety of applications. All tools are manufactured from micrograin carbide which has good toughness, and are available in bright and coated finish.

S002

S033

S044

A standard range of 1 to 4 flutes bright cutters is available in diameters of 1.0mm to 20.0mm.

A large range of TiCN coated cutters for applications in many different materials gives the user the possibility to utilise the tools in the ideal way for the operation.

Machining of Hardened Steel

For machining of hardened steel Dormer's new range of TiAIN-X coated cutters offer high productivity and reliability for machining up to 63 HRC steels.

A multi-flute cutter for small radial depths of cut, a 4-flute cutter with corner radius for small axial depths of cut and a full range of ballnose, 2 and 4 flute both short and long lengths, is available. All tools are designed for high rigidity.

Dry Machining
Using coated carbide cutters most operations in steel and cast iron can be achieved dry. In many cases a better tool life can be achieved machining dry. For the tougher operations in steel TiAIN-X coating is recommended.

HSM (High Speed Machining)

High speed machining is possible when the optimum depth of cut, tool geometry and coating are used. Dormer has a range of ballnose endmills and 4-flute cutters specifically for HSM. All tools have a rigid design which is also extremely important for these kind of operations.

Ballnosed Endmills

For profiling operations the ballnose endmill is well suited. Our increased range includes 2 and 4 flute bright standard designs and 2 and 4 flute TiAIN-X coated designs and cover most applications.

When using ballnose endmills be aware of the following:

The effective cutting speed varies from zero to a maximum where the cutting edge meets the work piece surface. Use Deff when calculating the r.p.m.

It is always best to draw the ballnose endmill upwards during operation. Less vibration is created and longer tool life will result. When the work piece surface is very steep it is best to use the S503 as this tool can also cut on the upper side of the cutting edge.

Note

When using ballnose endmills at larger cutting depths than shown, reduce cutting speed.
