S333 Solid Carbide Unequal Helix Roughing Cutter
Tests were carried out to compare the new S333 roughing cutter with a standard roughing cutter on AMG 1.5. On the S333, the combination of the toughness properties of the carbide material, the Super-G coating and the geometry of the tool (unequal helix, asymmetric chipbreaker profile) resulted in less tool vibration and less wear on the tool, compared to the standard roughing cutter. Consequently for the S333, the quality of the surface finish of the workpiece is higher and the tool life of the cutter is over 30% longer, resulting in less tool changes.
MATERIAL
H15EF grade of carbide material is used for its toughness properties.
LENGTH:
Medium cut length.
SHANK:
To DIN 6535 HB.
UNEQUAL HELIX:
- The unequal design of the helix
results in a decrease in tool vibration, to give the best surface finish and
superior edge quality.
- Tool rigidity assists the dimensional control of the workpiece.
- Greater axial and radial depths can be achieved at high cutting parameters.
COATING:
New Super-G coating now has higher hardness properties combined with improved toughness.
ASYMMETRICAL CHIPBREAKER HRA:
The special asymmetric chipbreaker design allows a smoother cutting operation, and minimises chipping problems, increasing tool life.
CHAMFER:
Robust chamfer design on the end teeth.
