A509 HSCo Jobber Drill for Stainless Steel featuring Dialub coating

Dormer’s new A509 is specifically designed for drilling in Stainless Steel and similar materials. The introduction of Dialub amorphous diamond coating, combined with the strength of the design, presents superior levels of productivity and extended tool life.

MATERIAL
M42 HSCo Tool Steel is used for its higher hot hardness, which allows the drill to run under more extreme conditions.

HOLE DEPTH:
The hole depth capability of this drill range is 4 x Diameter in one hit. Peck cycles in Stainless Steel should be avoided wherever possible.

SHANK:
Parallel Shank equal to the nominal drill diameter for stability in the majority of holding systems.

HELIX:
A faster than standard helix adds strength to the drill and aids rapid and efficient chip evacuation away from the cutting edges.

COATING:
The newly developed Dialub amorphous diamond coating exhibits high hardness and low friction properties which increase the wear resistance of the drill, leading to long life and higher productivity.

HOLE QUALITY:
As with most application drills, the hole size obtainable when the drill is used at its most efficient is H10 with a good surface finish.

WEB:
Compared to most drills for Stainless Steel the A509 has a thinner web at the point with a steeper web taper. These two features reduce the thrust force and at the same time ensure the drill's strength.
POINT DESIGN:
To give added strength to the cutting edges, a point angle of 135º is used and in combination with the Split Point geometry, the point design cuts efficiently through Stainless Steel, producing small manageable chips.
